Kura promoted by The Scotts Co.

The Scotts Miracle-Gro Co. has promoted Brian Kura to senior vice president, North America Sales, of The Scotts Co., a wholly-owned subsidiary.

In this position, Kura oversees the relationships with the company's retail partners to ensure the organization's industry-leading sales force provides quality, in-store service for consumers. Kura joined Scotts in 1997. Before that he held positions with Chevron Chemical Company and Monsanto.

In his new position, Kura succeeds Dan Paradiso, who was named to the new position of senior vice president, North America Growth and Innovation He will focus on the implementation and review of strategic growth initiatives in the business, along with the assessment of key process improvement plans.


Benson gets expanded role at Dow AgroSciences

Dow AgroSciences has named Matt Benson as North America Market Sell and U.S. Business Services Leader following the retirement of Jack Mitenbuler.
In his expanded role, Benson will manage both marketing research and marketing communications managers. He will continue to lead marketing and sales training for the company. He has 25 years of experience, having joined Dow AgroSciences in 1982. He has held positions in sales, marketing and customer service, most recently as the Commercial Training Leader/Six Sigma Black Belt.


Klosterboer joins BASF

BASF Professional Turf & Ornamentals has appointed Travis Klosterboer as sales specialist for Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico.

In his new role he will help chemical distributors, golf course superintendents, nursery/greenhouse and lawn care operators and other turf professionals select science-based solutions to meet their turf and ornamental challenges.

Since 2002, Klosterboer represented Bayer Environmental Science as its golf, sports field and ornamentals sales specialist in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas.  He managed South Texas and Louisiana sales for Aventis Chipco Professional Products and represented Syngenta Turf & Ornamentals for eight years as its golf, lawn care and ornamentals market specialist in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico.  He spent the first two years of his career as an assistant superintendent at courses in Houston and Fort Worth.
