Once you and/or the search committee have chosen the individual who is best qualified to fill the position of golf course superintendent, you must work out the details concerning salary, benefits and terms of employment.

The employment offer may be made by telephone and followed up with a letter, formally offering the position and describing details of the offer. Offer letters are useful for:

  • confirming information about expected starting date
  • restating salary offered (quoted on a weekly, biweekly, monthly or annual basis)
  • providing a formal welcome to the company

Since offer letters can be targets of legal action it is recommended that they be produced by or at least reviewed by your human resource department or by legal counsel.
