Cannon moves from Cactus and Pine to foundation

Lynn Cannon, executive director of the Cactus and Pine GCSA, is stepping down after eight years to become consulting director of development for the Golf and Environmental Foundation of Arizona.

During her tenure, she helped to create the Cactus and Pine Foundation, which became the Golf and Environmental Foundation, a (501) C3 organization dedicated to raising funding for turfgrass research and scholarships.

Cannon's replacement, Carmella Ruggiero, has been director of member services for Troon Golf and Country Club.

A party honoring Cannon is scheduled for 4:30 to 7:00 p.m., Jan. 6, at the Orange Tree Golf Resort in Scottsdale, Ariz.


RISE elects Briggs chairman of governing board

The Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment governing board has elected Stephen P. Briggs as chairman for a two-year term beginning in January 2006. Briggs is director of BASF Specialty Products, based in Research Triangle Park, N.C.

He will lead a 12-member Governing Board representing 200 members of RISE, a national trade association representing the manufacturers, formulators, distributors and other industry leaders involved with specialty pesticide products and fertilizers.

Briggs served his first term on the RISE governing from 1999-2003 and was chairman of the program and membership committee from 2000-2003.

"Our industry serves a central role in providing effective tools for use in combating harmful and troublesome pests,” Briggs said. “RISE will continue to support our industry's efforts to provide valuable and effective products and services to our customers."


Ikonomopoulos hired at Mi-T-M

Juli Ikonomopoulos has been hired as marketing manager at Mi-T-M Corp., where she will be responsible for all marketing communications and logistics

Ikonomopoulos was previously editor of two industry trade publications, and before to that she worked as marketing coordinator for a large Midwestern window-and-door manufacturer. She has 16 years experience in marketing, sales, and communications.
