USGA honors Chris Wilson for U.S. Open work

The 20-year GCSAA member received the E.J. Marshall Platter at the conclusion of the 2023 U.S. Open Championship

Los Angeles (June 19, 2023) – The United States Golf Association (USGA) recognized the work of 20-year GCSAA member Chris Wilson, director of golf courses and grounds at Los Angeles Country Club, by presenting him with the E.J. Marshall Platter at the conclusion of the 2023 U.S. Open Championship. 

The E.J. Marshall Platter was created by the USGA in 2022 to honor leaders in golf course management who demonstrate commitment, expertise and outstanding collaboration with the USGA to present a well-maintained course, worthy of hosting a national championship and the world’s best players. Wilson's team was also recognized for their contributions to the 123rd U.S. Open. 

Wilson has been at LACC since 2015, but also spent a stint there starting in 2010. He began his career in his hometown at Arkansas City (Kan.) Country Club and then spent a decade on the staff at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla., He has also served as superintendent at Hillcrest Country Club in Bartlesville, Okla., and Roaring Fork Club in Basalt, Colo., before taking over the lead role at LACC.
