Scholarship program assists children and grandchildren of association members

Lawrence, Kan. (July 16, 2024) – The Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) has awarded 20 college scholarships as part of its Legacy Awards program. To be eligible, applicants must be a child or grandchild of a GCSAA member. The program is funded in partnership with Grass Clippings and the GCSAA Foundation. Each grant is for $1,500.

The awards are based on academic achievement, community involvement, extracurricular activities and leadership skills. Applicants must be enrolled full-time at an accredited institution of higher learning, or for high school seniors, accepted at such an institution for the next academic year.

“GCSAA is committed to supporting members in the turfgrass industry, and one way we can do that is by assisting their family members who are pursuing higher education,” says GCSAA CEO Rhett Evans. “With the help of Grass Clippings, the Legacy Awards enable recipients to achieve their academic goals and set them up for success in their future careers by reducing the financial burden of higher education expenses.”

“Grass Clippings is proud to see these scholarships come to fruition. We support the golf industry by focusing on its very core – the people who make it happen. Superintendents are responsible for our playing surfaces and are the first to show up every day at a golf course,” says Grass Clippings CEO Jake Hoselton. “We are honored to invest in the education for the children and grandchildren of GCSAA members.”
