Lawrence, Kan. (July 23, 2024) – The Palm Beach Golf Course Superintendents Association (PBGCSA) has donated $5,000 to the GCSAA Foundation, the philanthropic organization of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA). As part of the donation, $2,500 will go to GCSAA’s STEAM education program First Green.

Palm Beach GCSA remains in the Governor’s Club giving level of the GCSAA Foundation’s Cumulative Giving Program. The Governor’s Club recognizes donors who have given between $50,000 and $99,999 since 1987. The chapter also remains in the GCSAA Foundation’s Platinum Tee Club, which recognizes organizations that give $5,000 annually to the GCSAA Foundation.

The Palm Beach GCSA set a goal of donating $50,000 to the golf industry. This year, the PBGCSA has raised $56,490 towards philanthropic contributions. The Palm Beach GCSA was founded in 1978 and is one of 94 GCSAA-affiliated chapters in North America.

“Our association motto is ‘inspire and deliver,’ and I can confidently say that this group has gone above and beyond those three words. It’s truly an honor to be in the position I am and be surrounded by such inspirational individuals,” said Jeffrey Klontz, treasurer of PBGCSA. “This goal is only possible with the support from our entire membership. The sense of
fellowship and comradery from this group is hard to really explain.”

Along with GCSAA, PBGCSA also donated to the following:

  • Marie Roberts Scholarship
  • FGCSA Lobbyist Initiative Southern Group
  • FGCSA Benevolent Tournament
  • SFGCSA Golf Benefit Tournament
  • First Tee- Florida Gold
  • Little Smiles

  • Little Smiles Tee Sign
  • Chris Jordan Vendor Appreciation Prize Money Donation
  • Chris Jordan Additional Donation
  • GCSAA Rounds for Research
  • GCSAA Foundation

In addition to Klontz, the PGBGSA board includes Brian Birney, CGCS, president; Jason Bagwell, vice president; Case LeVally, secretary; George Kervern, past president; Clinton Tingen, CGCS, external vice president; Taylor Griffin, director; Joshua Fleisher, director; Joe Ramsey, director; and Jim Rattigan, director.

“On behalf of all GCSAA members, thank you to PBGCSA for investing in our program First Green and the GCSAA Foundation” said GCSAA CEO Rhett Evans. “This donation will help our organization elevate the profession and innovate the future of the golf course management industry.”
