With election day last week, I focused on the GCSAA Priority Issues Agenda.
To follow up on that post and continue with the Government Affairs theme for the next couple of posts, this week I’m focusing on GCSAA Action Alerts.
17. GCSAA Action Alerts
What are GCSAA Action Alerts? They are simply messages sent to congress by GCSAA members either supporting or opposing specific bills which have been introduced in the Senate or House which would affect the golf course management industry.
For example, Senate Bill S. 3283, which has been introduced by Cory Booker (D-NJ) in the United States Senate, would drastically change the way golf courses are managed by banning, eliminating, or restricting many plant and pest control products many superintendents rely on to maintain healthy turf grass, trees, and ornamental plants.
If members are in opposition to the bill, GCSAA has an action alert – among others – to allow members to voice their opposition to the bill easily and effectively.
Previous action alerts supported programs such as H-2B and opposed bills at the state level including California AB 1910, dubbed the “Golf Endangerment Act” which targeted the state’s public golf courses for housing development.
