ROUNDS 4 RESEARCH

by Shane Conroy | Apr 26, 2023

It’s Rounds 4 Research week (R4R). Courses from across the world donate rounds to be auctioned off to raise money for local GCSAA chapters and turfgrass foundations.

39. Rounds 4 Research

Rounds 4 Research is an innovative program aimed at generating resources to fund research and help ensure golf’s future. The premise is simple: Golf facilities support the effort by donating rounds of golf for two or four or “stay and play” packages and other items which are then auctioned online.

Why R4R matters:

Rounds 4 Research allows GCSAA chapters and turfgrass foundations to participate as fundraising partners with most of the proceeds going back to those organizations. In this way, these organizations can direct the proceeds to specific projects that will have the most significant impact in their local areas.

The Rounds 4 Research program is addressing a critical shortage of funding for ongoing, university-based agronomic research, education, advocacy programs and course operations. You can help foster sustainability with a donation or by bidding on rounds during the online auction.

A huge thank you to all the courses and superintendents who have donated in the past; R4R doesn’t exist without your support. If you haven’t donated yet, I’d encourage you to do so. It’s a great way to support your local chapter, as well as promote your facility as fostering the future of the game. It’s not too late to donate a round! Donations will be accepted up until the end of the auction – which is when a majority of the bidding takes place.

R4R has only grown throughout the years, and this is a fun week to follow the bidding and watch the auction.

Another huge thank you to The Toro Company for their support in this program.
