GCSAA affiliate chapters and others offer events for superintendents, assistants, and equipment managers
As we move into 2025, GCSAA-affiliated chapters in the Southwest region are offering numerous educational opportunities for superintendents, assistants and equipment managers.
The Sierra Nevada GCSA will be hosting its annual Turf Tech Workshop on Jan. 14 at The Ridge Golf Course in Auburn, Calif. The event features education tracks for assistant superintendents and equipment managers taught by industry experts including Toro and John Deere representatives. Craig Kessler, executive director of the California Alliance for Golf, will serve as the keynote speaker. 100 assistants and equipment managers from the greater Northern California region will be in attendance. More information is available on the Sierra Nevada GCSA website.
The GCSA of Northern California will host their immensely popular Assistant Boot Camp on Feb. 24-25 at Bayonet and Blackhorse Golf Club in Seaside, Calif. As a regular attendee, this is one of my favorite educational events. Featured speakers for this year include Jim Baird, Ph.D., Marc Snyder of SePRO, Charles Schmid, Ph.D., of Oregon State University, Frank Rossi, Ph.D., of Cornell University, Ken Nice of Bandon Dunes, Parker Ray of Bayonet and Blackhorse and Mike Franz of Wilbur-Ellis. Lunches, opening night cocktail hour and dinner and golf are included in the price. Registration is available at the GCSA of Northern California website.
Lastly, Sierra Pacific Turf Supply will host their annual Spring Symposium on March 5-6 at Cache Creek Casino Resort and Yocha Dehe Golf Club. The premier educational opportunity on the West Coast, the symposium features two days of education, an opening night gala, golf tournament and numerous networking opportunities with over 250 golf industry professionals from California and numerous other West Coast states. This is a can’t-miss opportunity at a beautiful resort with all the amenities. Registration and the complete agenda is available at the Sierra Pacific Turf Supply website.
I hope you will take the opportunity to attend the above events as they truly provide tremendous learning opportunities as well as the chance to network with peers and expand your professional network. I look forward to seeing you there!
