Fort Washington Superintendent Jose Alvarez elected president
The GCSA of Central California hosted their Annual Meeting on January 20 at Hunter Ranch Golf Course in Paso Robles, Calif. The event was attended by 50 members and guests.
Fort Washington Golf & Country Club Superintendent Jose Alvarez was elected as president. Alvarez is a 19-year member of GCSAA. Elliot Weber of Alisal Ranch was elected vice president, Herminio Plata of Monarch Dunes Golf Club as secretary/treasurer and Josh Heptig of the County of San Luis Obispo as director. Josh also serves as the president of the California Golf Course Owners Association. John Allan of SQM and David Avila of Harrell’s were elected as affiliate director members.
Additionally, several bylaw changes were voted on and outgoing President Andy Cordova and Chapter Executive Kim Milne provided an overview of chapter operations and financials for the 2024 calendar year. Vice President Elliot Weber discussed the new chapter Standard Operating Procedure Guide that he created and will be implementing in 2025.
I spoke to the group on GCSAA Conference and Trade Show, Rounds 4 Research, GCSAA Disaster Relief and wildfires in Southern California and GCSAA’s online labor hub.
Following the meeting, attendees were treated to lunch and a round of golf at Hunter Ranch. GCSAA member Jason Pautsch was our host for the day and course conditions were outstanding with a very cold Central Valley morning turning into a nice afternoon.
Congratulations to Jose and the other elected board members and a big thank you to Andy Cordova for his years of service on the Central California board. His efforts have made a difference in growing the association and keeping it financially sustainable.
