Golf course superintendents work hard each day to provide the excellent playing conditions that add to the enjoyment of the game. Plus, superintendents continually strive to keep the game’s playing fields healthy and beautiful with environmental stewardship as a primary focus. Thanks to the overall efforts of the golf industry, golf courses are using less water, employing sustainable management practices and expanding natural wildlife habitats on courses, which benefits everyone in a community.

On Sept. 10, 2024, International Thank a Golf Course Superintendent Day will give you the chance to join others around the world in thanking the person who makes the game better every day.

In addition to GCSAA, other groups taking part in the global event include the British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association (BIGGA), the Australia Sports Turf Managers Association (ASTMA), the Canadian Golf Superintendents Association (CGSA) and The Federation of European Golf Greenkeepers Associations (FEGGA). All together the groups represent more than 31,000 golf course management professionals in 78 countries around the world.

GCSAA is the voice of golf course superintendents

The Golf Course Superintendents Association of America is dedicated to serving its members, advancing the profession of golf course management and improving communities through the enjoyment, growth and vitality of the game of golf. GCSAA provides robust education, tools and resources, professional development, career support and advocacy.

BIGGA

The British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association is Europe’s largest membership organisation for golf greenkeepers. Today BIGGA has around 5,800 greenkeepers and turf professionals as members.

CGSA

The Canadian Golf Superintendents Association represents golf course superintendents from across Canada. Its mission is to promote and support superintendents and their profession. The association is also committed to environmentally sustainable practices with respect to the management of golf course properties.

ASTMA

The Australian Sports Turf Managers Association was formed in 1981 and represents over 1,500 members as the peak industry body for sports turf management in Australia.

FEGGA

The Federation of European Golf Greenkeeper Associations is an umbrella organisation for greenkeeping associations in Europe and beyond. Currently 26 national associations are members.
