GCM NewsWeekly

The LPGA Tour’s quest for consistent conditioning across all of its playing fields and GCSAA’s desire for broader exposure for the superintendent and the profession of golf course management crossed paths late last year in the creation of the LPGA Tour agronomist position. Now, half a year into this partnership, GCM senior associate editor Seth Jones takes a look at the position, the man hired to fill it — longtime Ohio superintendent John Miller, CGCS — and the budding relationship between the association and the world’s top female golfer.

Also, senior staff writer Terry Ostmeyer examines the career of the construction superintendent and the professionals who tackle that job’s unique challenges.

This month’s cover photo, taken by Jones at the Kraft Nabisco Championship, features Miller and professional golfer Lorena Ochoa.
