Ernesto Martinez, a student at Penn State University and one-year GCSAA member, is the winner of the 2025 Allan MacCurrach Jr. Award of $10,000 from GCSAA, administered through the GCSAA Foundation. The Allan MacCurrach Jr. Award benefits non-traditional students seeking a career in golf course or turf management.

Twenty-three students were chosen from the GCSAA Scholars Competition to receive merit-based awards for course/turf management or related fields. Dan Miller, a student at Michigan State University, is the Mendenhall Award winner, the top award in the competition.

The GCSAA Foundation has awarded one-time education grants to 40 GCSAA-affiliated chapters through the Chapter Education Grants, presented in partnership with ClubProcure.

GCSAA, in conjunction with other global superintendent groups, is recognizing those who are essential to golf’s success with international “Thank a Golf Course Superintendent Day” on Sept. 9.

The Palm Beach GCSA has again generously donated $7,500 to the GCSAA Foundation. The gift will be divided evenly to support the Foundation’s annual fund, the First Green STEAM education program and Rounds 4 Research.
