Back to the Big Easy
In March 2006, GCM’s Seth Jones joined members of the Rocky Mountain GCSA on a relief trip to New Orleans to assist golf courses that had been damaged by Hurricane Katrina. Two years later and in advance of GCSAA’s return to New Orleans for the 2009 GCSAA Education Conference and Golf Industry Show, Jones is going back to report on the progress that’s been made on those courses. You can follow his trip this month on the GCM blog (http://gcm.typepad.com) and read his feature story in the September issue of GCM.

Touching base
Looking for a long-lost industry contact or a classmate from turf school that you’ve lost contact with? GCSAA members can turn to the online membership directory available on the GCSAA Web site at www.gcsaa.org/community/MemberDirectory.aspx. Searches by name, course, state, country or any combination of those four are available.

The tools of success
If you’re planning a major renovation project on your golf course or are just looking to confirm the amount of topdressing material needed to finish off your greens, the Super Tools section of the GCSAA Web site can offer assistance. Just visit www.gcsaa.org/solutions/solutions.aspx and look for the Super Tools module, where you can find tools for everything from calibrating a boom sprayer to determining how much concrete will be needed to fill a certain area.
