The 2009 Golf Industry Show Silent Auction is open online at

Proceeds from the auction support environmental stewardship, research
and education; player development; as well as grants and scholarships
to advance the club management industry. Auction funds also provide
young people with the opportunity to learn golf and the life values

Byron Nelson honored by GCBAA
This year the Golf Course Builders Association of America is
bestowing its Don A. Rossi Award on a golfing legend – Byron Nelson.
Also the 1994 recipient of GCSAA’s Old Tom Morris Award, Nelson
established his golf career in the 1930s and ’40s by winning 52
PGA events, including five major championships. More>>
Virginia GCSA honors longtime
members
Longtime golf course superintendent Mike Burkholder of Star Tannery,
Va., has been named winner of the Virginia
GCSA's President’s Award for Lifetime Service for 2008. The
award is given “in recognition of a career of distinguished and
meritorious service and commitment to advancing the profession of golf
course superintendent in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and in grateful
appreciation for over twenty years of contributions that led to the
advancement of association affairs since its inception.” More>>
