In a recent EPA Green Scene video podcast, "Green Gardening and Pest Management," Tom Brennan of the Office of Pesticide Programs recognizes the efforts of GCSAA to promote IPM and reduce pesticide risk. GCSAA is mentioned along with other Pesticide Environmental Stewardship Program (PESP) partners. The video outlines ways consumers can use IPM in homes and yards. Golf world praises Bethpage superintendent, staff, volunteers

GCSAA’s CEO  Mark J. Woodward, CGCS, called the efforts of Bethpage golf course superintendent Craig Currier, his staff and the more than 150 volunteers “amazing” and “inspirational” as they fought heavy rains to ensure the completion of the 2009 U.S. Open. Promoting the game: Fellow superintendent shares his story

 

Throughout July, golf facilities nationwide will celebrate Play Golf America’s fourth annual Family Golf Month by offering free and affordable activities such as golf clinics, family scrambles, parent/child golf camps and play days. In addition, “Take Your Daughter to the Course Week” kicks off next week with events designed to promote the game to girls. GCSAA is a supporting organization of PlayGolfAmerica.com, which features these programs and a variety of others designed to help grow the game.

 

GCSAA’s ON DEMAND webcast, “Bringing More Golf to Your Community,” offers a real-world case study from Dwayne L. Dillinger, CGCS at Bell Nob GC in Gillette, Wyo. Dillinger shares his experience bringing golf to kids in his community and outlines the entire process, from applying for a grant, to involving the community and getting vendors to make donations, to opening day.
