As GCSAA continues to grow the Grassroots Ambassadors program, it remains focused on filling Congressional Districts that aren’t currently represented by an ambassador. The program matches a member of GCSAA with a member of Congress, with the goal of building strong relationships between them. Over the past decade, GCSAA has established a network of committed advocates to serve as the “go-to” experts for lawmakers and their staff on golf course management issues.
The program provides the tools and training needed for GCSAA members to become effective advocates for the superintendent profession. Resources include a welcome packet to be sent upon signing up, access to online advocate training videos available on demand and invitations to participate in advocacy webinars throughout the year. GCSAA offers the Grassroots Ambassador Academy at the annual GCSAA Conference and Trade Show, where ambassadors interact with grassroots trainers and learn the art of political engagement. Grassroots Ambassadors are also awarded GCSAA education and service points for their efforts.
GCSAA would like to see an active Grassroots Ambassador in every Congressional District so all members of Congress are learning more about the professional work of golf course management and numerous benefits golf courses bring to communities. When you refer a fellow GCSAA member to become an Ambassador in an open district, you will receive a $50 gift card. If you’d like to sign up or help recruit, please contact Michael Lee, senior manager, government affairs, for more information at mlee@gcsaa.org.
