When developing an education program, begin with the content or learning objectives that you want to address. After you identify the learning objectives, reach out to local distributors, service technicians, manufacturers, or equipment managers in your chapter and your local GCSAA field staff to identify potential speakers. The professional development team at GCSAA can also be a resource for speaker recommendations.
When you contact the speaker, provide the learning objectives you would like to address, the time allotted for the presentation and any chapter regulations in place regarding external education.
It is standard procedure to pay a speaker an honorarium and cover travel expenses. Negotiations on these issues are between the chapter representative and the speaker.
